Oil connections

Completely dismantle the oil supply and drain pipes of the turbocharger and make sure they are carefully cleaned. Fit the pipes to the turbo; make sure that liquid gaskets are never used. Do not forget to renew the engine oil!!!

Air pipes

Always fit a new air filter and clean the air intake tube. If an intercooler is fitted, any oil residue should be removed. The turbo pressure line should also be carefully checked for any metal residue and then cleaned.

Mounting on the manifold

The manifolds may still contain metal residue from previous turbo damage. These should be removed. A manifold with cracks may damage the new turbocharger. Check this carefully.

Crankcase venting and engine condition

In many cases, the engine's crankcase breather is connected to the turbocharger's air supply line. A blocked crankcase vent causes oil drainage problems for the turbocharger. An engine in poor condition causes crankcase fumes to be blown into the engine by the turbocharger. This causes incomplete combustion and smoke pollution. Also check the engine's oil pressure.

Testing

Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Ensure that sufficient engine oil is supplied to the turbocharger. Slowly increase the engine speed and check all connections for any leaks. When the engine is warm, check all bolted connections. If necessary, carefully adjust the wastegate.
