1. Before you start fitting, check:

  • Whether the engine supplied matches your engine.
  • The delivered engine for any (transport) damage.
  • Whether everything matches the agreements made.
  • Check all oil seals for leaks. If in doubt, renew.

2. Additional points of attention/fitting tips

  • Renew the gasket ring under the oil drain plug.
  • Change oil and oil filter as per factory specifications.
  • Pay attention to viscosity and quantity.
  • Replace the complete distribution (possibly including the water pump).
  • When you need to rebuild the intake manifold, make sure it is clean. (There are often metal particles in it from the broken engine that will cause the new engine to break down as well).
  • Check the radiator for proper flow/leakage (after installation, check if the cooling oven motor starts).
  • Avoid electronic failures. As far as possible, use electronic components such as wiring harness, sensors, temperature sensors, etc. that belong to the vehicle.
  • Turbo engines: Ensure that enough oil reaches the turbocharger and that the oil can also flow away resistance-free (consider a kinked return line or the like). Make sure all intake tubes/hoses and intercooler are clean.
  • On diesel engines with an immobiliser on the fuel pump, it needs to be converted. (The whole pump or just the immobiliser).
  • Observe de- and assembly instructions according to factory data, tightening torques etc.
  • After the test drive, check the oil level.
  • After the test drive, check the engine for any leaks.

3. Out of warranty:

  • Complete distribution.
  • Head gasket (by arrangement).
  • Leaks on water pump, hose gaskets and oil seals.
  • Flywheel and clutch (pay particular attention to versions with a 2-mass flywheel)
  • Consequential damage caused by supplied turbo and/or fuel pump
